Joanna's Boutique Tea Room Review | Afternoon Tea Series

Okay so, I said in my last post that I'd be writing an Afternoon Tea series on my blog every month, then jolly old Corona happened and before we knew it, we were all thrown into not leaving our houses for months. I thought as the restrictions are slowly easing up, it only seemed right to dive in head first and start promoting small businesses and some of the places that have struggled the most during lockdown.

Nestled in the heart of Storrington village, West Sussex is the absolute gem that is Joanna's Boutique Tea Rooms. This place was recommended to us by my friend at work and after seeing the menu for Afternoon Tea, myself and Jasmine were immediately sold. It was the most random day in February where we had planned a day out but we hadn't quite decided on what to do yet. We made the most ridiculously last minute booking about 3 hours before we were due to arrive and we were lucky enough to get a space!

Walking up to the place itself is so aesthetically pleasing. It has outdoor seating for the summer and it's tucked away in a little side street with a cute beach hut home store next door! The vintage pale pink and white decor and sparkly chandeliers won us over instantly and rated 10/10 for adorableness in our books.

We were seated by the loveliest server (which FYI has the most flawless makeup) and our tea/ coffee order was taken. It only seemed right to order a strawberry tea to match the cups and saucers (obvs). We were told that our Afternoon Tea would be out as soon as it had all been freshly prepared.

The Afternoon Tea itself costs £25.00 per person and includes a mixture of sweet and savoury (Gluten Free available upon request). The savoury includes a mixture of incredible pastries such as mini cheese straws, sausage rolls with caramelised chutney and Welsh rarebit triangles (which OH MY GOD, were incredible!). There are also a selection of sandwiches with a selection of different fillings which can vary.

Of course we had the traditional warm scones, clotted cream and Jam, alongside our dessert treats which included mini cheesecakes topped with chocolate filled macarons, brownies, profiteroles and I think it was either syrup or ginger cake.

Needless to say, we polished it all off with barely anything to spare and it all tasted amazing! The pastry section (ESPECIALLY the Welsh rarebit slices) were our favourite part and we could have honestly just eaten 8000 of them. Honestly, whoever came up with that idea for an Afternoon Tea needs a medal. Trust me, it's life changing!

Despite us arriving at one of the later Afternoon Tea slots, the staff were super accommodating, polite and let us go at our own pace without making us feel like we had to leave - regardless of the fact they are almost closing/ setting up for an evening event they were having there.

All in all, we would absolutely 100% recommend visiting Joanna's Boutique Tea Room for Afternoon Tea, a spot of breakfast/ lunch or an afternoon tipple (as they have a bar too!). At the moment, they are also offering a takeaway/ collection service if you still don't feel comfortable eating out.

I would say it's easily the best, Insta-worthy Afternoon Tea in West Sussex we've been to yet and you'd be mad to miss out if you are passing. We will definitely be visiting again! :)
