Little Ways To Help Declutter Your Mind.

I've come to realise lately that having a clear head is so important. Remembering to take care of yourself is a massive factor in feeling good, and breaking old habits can sometimes be really good for you! I've found some weird and wonderful ways that seem to be working for me lately, so hopefully they'll help you out too!

Have regular clear outs.
Whether that's your clothes, makeup or sorting out the 'crap drawer', be ruthless and chuck all of the things you know you will never use or better still, donate them to charity!

Break old habits.
As much as I like my little weekly routine, I have been pushing myself to see people more recently and I feel so good for it. Even if the idea of going out after work is tiring, it's good to socialise and stay connected with people! Stepping outside your comfort zone is also a great way to refresh the mind!

Move your furniture around and re-arrange your living space.
I've recently sorted out a lot of my storage with some bog standard DIY drawer organisers. I never really saw the need for them before, but blow me down, they help you to create so much more space. Now finding something is a stress-free task!

Do a random 5-10 minute workout.
Surprisingly, this is actually one of the biggest things that helps my mind feel clearer. Pinterest usually have some great exercises to target specific areas of your body (mine is my thighs!). Depending on what you are wanting to do, there are also some exercise videos on Youtube, meaning you don't have to splash out on a workout DVD. As strange as it sounds, it really does work!

Buy a whole new set of underwear.
Sounds random and a bit weird (even if you have no-one to impress) but get rid of those scraggy, old bras or pants you told yourself you'd never part with (we all have them?) and buy a whole new set. Trust me, it's satisfying AF.

Fill in a journal and make daily to-do lists.
I always never used to bother with to-do lists as I was either too lazy to write one, or I never felt like there was anything I needed to do. Since using The Happiness Planner on a daily basis, I have all my needs in one place and I manage to get SO much done! Creating a daily list of priorities does actually work wonders. It's much better to know where your head is at!  Top tip: Get all the mundane tasks out of the way first to make way for all of the fun activities!

Read quotes and feel inspired.
I know a lot of people cringe up at this, but I swear positive quotes subconsciously motivate you. I know if I'm having a bit of a rough day, I'll always scour boards on Pinterest (follow me here) for some inspiration or a bit of pick-me-up. Basically, Pinterest is life.

Dedicate at least one day of the week to pamper yourself..
Fully. For me, this day is Monday, as we all know how crap they can be (unless you're lucky and don't have to deal with the stress and hatred of those!). When I say fully, I mean go all-out.

I don't just mean a bath, we're talking the whole shabang here! Exfoliate, do a face mask, light all of the candles, moisturise, get lost in a good book, watch a film, or even just indulge in a whole bottle of wine to yourself - do whatever you need to make yourself happy! It'll do the world of good and it'll make that week just a little bit more bearable!

How do you de-stress? :)

  1. These are so helpful! While I'm at uni I'm really busy trying to complete all my assignments and everything so I find after a while I can't concentrate and my brain feels cluttered and everything becomes stressful. So least with these tips I'll be able to take a break but still stay focused and motivated. The workout one is the best, I love doing mini workouts to de-stress but also keep me motivated :)

  2. I love this post! I have a really busy, on-the-go life, so taking time out to declutter my mind is essential. I also like doing random 5-10 minute videos or stretching sessions, I keep a few on Pinterest so they're there and ready as soon as the inspiration strikes!

  5. Love this! I think it's so important to have a cleared mind, and I actually do some of these things when I feel stressed- having a clear out, making lists, and meditating. Such a lifesaver, and is so understated! Also, buying a full set of underwear is MUCH needed over here, haha.
