The £5.99 Harry Potter-Inspired Makeup Brush Set You Need NOW

When I get emails from Wowcher, I'm usually deleting deals for Disneyland Paris trips I can't afford (whilst sobbing) or totally irrelevant garden furniture deals. So y'know, you can imagine my disappointment.

Last week, when I was having a really exciting lunch break browsing through my 164 unread emails (because that's how I roll now), I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the words 'Harry Potter', 'makeup brushes' and '£5.99' all in the same sentence.

I'd been lusting over the Storybook Cosmetics brushes for ages but I just couldn't justify the price, so when I saw the next best thing at an attractive price of £5.99, I knew I needed them immediately.

Harry Potter-Inspired Makeup Brush Set

Ok, so what are they like?

I knew for the grand total of six pounds (plus a bit extra for shipping) I knew not to expect anything groundbreaking, although I was very intrigued.

When they first arrived, the package was pretty weighty (for a handful of eyeshadow brushes that is) which gave me hope for the quality of them. Sadly, one of brushes had come away from the wand in transit (nothing a little superglue couldn't fix!) but other than that, they were individually packaged, sturdy and in perfect condition!

I couldn't quite believe how soft the bristles were and the quality of them pleasantly surprised me! They also claim to be 100% cruelty free, vegan-friendly, antibacterial and hypoallergenic. Pretty decent if you ask me.

Harry Potter-Inspired Makeup Brush Set

The set comes with 1 x large angled blending brush, 1x blending brush, 1x small pointed crease brush, a small angled brush and what I can only describe as a small flat concealer brush (well that's what I've been using it for anyway!) Tbh, I'm just guessing what they are based on how I've been using them!

I haven't actually used these as much as I would have liked yet because minimal makeup is a must in this riddikilus UK heatwave (see what I did there?).

Harry Potter-Inspired Makeup Brush Set

These are great for a smokey eye or an everyday eyeshadow look and there's pretty much a brush for all of your needs. The one I've found most useful so far is the pointed crease brush. This is great for precision when using a different shade above my crease (hooded lid probs) and on my lower lash line.

The blending brush is effortless and really softens the eyeshadow with little-to-no effort at all. The flat brush can be used for packing eyeshadow onto your lids damp, or in my case liquid/cream concealer under my eyes.

As for the 2 angled brushes, I am still yet to use those - all in good time of course!

Harry Potter-Inspired Makeup Brush Set

So, where do I buy them?

If you've used Wowcher before, you'll know these deals don't last forever so if you're thinking about these I'd get in there quick! You can buy this set here or the full 10 piece set here. You're welcome.

Have you tried these brushes? Will you be snapping up them up? :)

Garner Skin Active Botanical Honey Flower Collection

Garner Skin Active Botanical Honey Milk Collection Review
You know when PR companies go above and beyond to send you the most generous care package? Yep. Well that is Garnier for me! I was blown away when a HUGE giant box arrived on my doorstep recently and I literally couldn't believe how amazing it was.

May Favourites

So, I sucked at being a blogger in May. I don't know why, I just couldn't sit down and write a post without getting stupidly distracted. Or falling down 2 stairs and spraining my ankle.. True story.

Usually these posts are all about beauty favourites but shock horror, I haven't actually purchased any new makeup this month. I know, wtf?! To be honest, I think I just spend my money on more lifestyle-y based bits this month so here they are!

Memories That Last Forever With Printiki

Printiki Review

I don't know why, but printed photos will always hold a special place in my heart. Taking photos is (and always has been) a huge passion of mine - even if half the time I'm just winging it and I really don't know what I'm doing!

The Not-So-Serious SS17 Lookbook..

Recently, my friend and I filmed some lookbooks for each other for Youtube (which I'll include below if you want to see) and did a little blog photo shoot. Now, I'm definitely not a pro when it comes to this stuff and I definitely don't claim to be a fashion blogger, I just have a lot of fun putting outfits together!

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes
I am quite possibly the most useless person in the world when it comes to maintaining my nails. I know right, how can I call myself a beauty blogger? Either way, I do sometimes make an effort and paint them according to what season it is just to make them look pretty.

Gel nails have always been something I've dabbled with the idea of, however I can never keep the length of my nails for it to be worthwhile. It's also a lot of money. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes

This is where Rimmel come in. Their new Super Gel Nail Polishes* have the effect of gel without all the fuss. Your chosen colour has a built-in base coat, so you just need 2 thin layers, once dry simply apply 1 layer of the Super Gel Top Coat over the top to set it in place. No need for a lamp or any fuss and Rimmel claims it lasts up to 2 weeks!

Rimmel Super Gel Nail Polishes Purple Splash

I'm currently on week one and I've noticed no chipping at all. For someone who constantly bites and picks at their nails, anything that doesn't chip is a miracle!

I recently got sent 5 shades from their new Super Gel Beach Ready Collection which are all perfect for the Spring/ Summer months. Some of the names of them are so quirky.

That's not all. The range overall has 25 shades in total so you really are spoilt for choice - regardless of the season!

I love that this leaves your nails with a super shiny, smooth and streak-free finish with the natural light curing technology to really make your nails pop. You can literally achieve salon perfection in your own home.

This is easy to apply even for the crappest of nail painters (like myself) and the brush is the perfect size, especially if you have fairly small nails.

Overall, I am so impressed with the new Super Gel collection and I would recommend them to all my friends! Have you tried them yet? :)

Brighton Foodies Festival 2017

Last weekend myself, Jasmine, Jack and Sean attended the Foodies Festival in Brighton! If you saw my recent giveaway, you'll know that the festival is held on the heart of the Hove Lawns, slap bang in the middle of Brighton and Hove and runs over the first May Bank Holiday weekend.

As last year was off the cards, there was a lot of making up for lost time this time around! When we arrived it was cloudy with a bitter wind (in true british style, obvs), but we were determined not to let it ruin our day!

Jasmine and I actually wanted to go to the festival 2 days running, but life just got in the way and we ended up being way too busy in the end!

When we arrived, I couldn't quite believe how big the festival was! You are greeted with all sorts of wonderful smells, live music, an old London bus bar and a Pimms Tennis Ball. There was a huge selection of drink stands to choose from but it only seemed right to start the afternoon on with a pint of Pimms. Yup, a pint.

There were endless amounts of food and drink stalls with plenty of free tasters which obviously we couldn't resist! If I was rich, I could have easily bought everything I tried!

It was hard not to feel overwhelmed by the amount of BBQ smells and delicious scents floating around in the air, I literally didn't know what to have for lunch.

We wandered around a good few times to see what we fancied and ended up getting a chicken wrap from this giant BBQ stand I can't remember the name of. This set us back £7 and I won't lie, it was nice but not anything special.

The macaroni on the other hand from I LOVE MAC N CHEESE was absolutely insane! It was so good I could eat it a million times over!

They even put crispy onions on the top and OMG. It was just the best thing ever. Anything cheesy is life though??

Another thing that really caught our eye was the KIN Vodka stand selling Lake District Toffee Vodka. The charming northern guy was enough to sell it alone and of course, alcohol tasters will always interest me.

The vodka itself was BLOODY AMAZING. I'm not usually big on sickly sweet drinks (or straight vodka) but this was something else. It didn't even have that harsh vodka taste to it and I could genuinely drink it straight haha.

There was also a giant pirate ship bar (which you could not miss) who were serving cocktails in coconuts. I really wanted one for the novelty but I'm not a fan of the coconut taste, so I think that would have just ended badly haha.

Although the boys basically drank the Kingfisher van dry throughout the day, Jack did try the Fullers Frontier Craft Lager from the Frontier van (..funnily enough!) OMG. It tasted SO good! Craft beer is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine and I highly recommend it! I'm so glad to know I can buy it in my local supermarket and pubs too!

To end the afternoon, we were lucky enough to have access to the VIP bar and a complimentary glass of fizz! The bar and seating area was nestled under a giant teepee which had it's very own acoustic stage. We got there just at the right time as 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus started playing and the rain decided to make an appearance. As if we weren't cold enough!!

Jack and I picked up some goodies between us and came home with some gourmet dog treats for his cheeky little hounds (if I remember the brand I'll link them later on!), Garlic & Herb Green Thunder cheese from Snowdonia Cheese Company (which I can confirm tasted divine!) and also a mini Kin Toffee + Vodka which I mentioned earlier.

Despite being totally frozen, the afternoon was a lot of fun and I am definitely going back next year. I WILL try and buy more next year too - especially the bubble waffles! Hoping they make a comeback. Thanks so much for the Foodies Festival for having us! Hopefully the weather won't be such a washout next year and we can go more than once! :)

Have you been to the Foodies Festival before? :)

**I was invited along as press by Foodies Festival but all opinions and food lusts are my own.

April Favourites

April Favourites
OH HAI MAY. Spring is in full swing. Poet and I (did) know it. Ok sorry, I am done.

Here's another one of my signature late monthly favourites with products I loved throughout April. You know the score. Ps. Please excuse the meh quality photos at the moment, my memory card for my camera has broken so I'm having to use my (also broken) phone. WOOP WOOP.

My Must See Bands at Slam Dunk Festival 2017

Slam Dunk Festival 2016

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you'll know that Slam Dunk Festival is quite literally my favourite day of the year. Whilst I felt quite underwhelmed with the line-up this year, there are still a lot of bands I love (a hell of a lot) and will find myself watching. Not only that, it's mine and Jasmines 1 year friend-iversary. YAY! <3

Smashbox Brighton Event

Smashbox Brighton Event

Recently, myself and a few friends Holly and Katie went along to our local Boots to spend an evening with the Smashbox team. In store for us throughout the evening involved trying and testing their new releases (whilst finding out all about them!), eating an unruly amount of Haribo and socialising with other local bloggers!

Because who wouldn't want to be all of those things on my new notebook? Minus that, can we just talk about how ridiculously dreamy this MacBook skin is? I can now stare at an opal-ly pastel heaven every time I go to use my laptop and it makes me SO happy.

It feels like only yesterday I was telling you all how much of a rollercoaster my life was. I think a catch up is waaaaay overdue, so grab a cuppa - it's probably going to be a long one!

I love food - there's absolutely no denying it's a genuine obsession. Snacking is probably one of my favourite things to do and If I'm going out somewhere, one way or another you can almost guarantee there's a food or drink motive behind the trip.

March Favourites

March Favourites

Hey hey! I always hit a blank when starting a favourites post these days. I literally think I say the same thing every month.. haha! Anyway, how was your March? Didn't it fly by?! I'm here again chatting you through my favourites from last month, and where you can find them!

Baie Botanique Rose Renew Regenerating Face Cream

Baie Botanique Rose Renew Regenerating Face Cream Review

Finding the right skincare to match my erratic skin type can sometimes be a chore to say the least. My skin fluctuates from an oily mess and a planet of spots, to a dry and sensitive pain in the arse. I basically never know what I'm going to be waking up to from day-to-day. I've come to realise over the years that as much as I don't always want to admit it, it does pay to have great skin.

I bloody love March. Do you know why? Because it means Makeup Revolution celebrate yet another birthday, and me and some beautiful friends Orla, Megan and Naddy get to go along and party with them!

Rimmel London Volume Shake Mascara Review

Rimmel London Volume Shake Mascara Review

When it comes to my lashes, they are incredibly stubborn and sparse, which means finding a mascara that works for me is usually some kind of miracle.

I recently received the new Rimmel Volume Shake Mascara* through the post and needless to say I was very intrigued. My first impression of the product was that it's heavier than your normal every day mascara. Not only that, it's friggen shakeable - aren't Rimmel loving their shake technology at the moment?!

With spring fast approaching, I feel well and truly ready for new bed sheets! I am a very seasonal person when it comes to bedding; I will go to great lengths to make sure the sheets are changed and ready for the upcoming season! Although we tend to have pretty sporadic seasons in the UK, it's nice to try.. right?

February Favourites

OMG. It's scary how quickly this favourites post crept up (and how late it is!) Soz. I definitely panicked the other day at how little new things I've tried lately - needless to say that WILL change this month! I've definitely focussed maybe a teeny bit more on the beauty side of things on my new Youtube Channel lately, but I am still going to continue on here, obvs!

The Ultimate Guide To Blog Props (& Where To Find Them)

The Ultimate Guide To Blog Photo Props

When I first started out in the blogging world, flat lays and photography were the least of my worries. I'd happily write a post with no photo at all, or throw together products with the most hideous lighting and not really even give a crap.

The more time I spent reading others blogs or lusting over dreamy Instagram shots, the more I wondered why people were so lucky to have perfectly white & marbled worktops, continuous fresh flowers and dreamy wooden flooring. I spent ages trying to work it out until a little lightbulb clicked and I took to asking Google & Twitter.

Little Ways To Help Declutter Your Mind.

I've come to realise lately that having a clear head is so important. Remembering to take care of yourself is a massive factor in feeling good, and breaking old habits can sometimes be really good for you! I've found some weird and wonderful ways that seem to be working for me lately, so hopefully they'll help you out too!

Getting Ready For Valentines Day ft. Tangle Angel

Valentines Day ft. Tangle Angel

When it comes to the dreaded V word, I think the majority of the world will shudder or just shrug the whole idea off completely. Whether it's your thing or not, there are plenty of different ways to spend the evening. From a date night, to 'Galentines' drinks or even just a night in to yourself - everyone will be doing something different.

January Favourites

January Favourites 2017

So, January happened. Does that mean the blues will officially be over and the blogging slumps will kindly get in the bin? I don't know about you, but I really hope so!

I tried a lot of new products over Christmas and New Year, some of which featured in my 2016 Favourites Round Up because I loved them so much! Since then, I've had loads of other things to try out, so hopefully there is something for everyone here!

Drugstore Get Ready With Me Ft. Rimmel London

Drugstore Get Ready With Me Ft. Rimmel London

This took a lot of guts for me to post because believe it or not, I am quite self conscious and actually dislike my face. I think my jawline is wonky, I have annoying features and I'm not a makeup pro at all - I just like to use new products. But in reality, who cares? This blog is all about being real, so who needs a perfectly edited photoshopped face?

Amsterdam Video Diaries

Amsterdam In Winter

It now seems to be a tradition now that whenever Jack and I go away, we make a video. As much as I loved writing my Amsterdam Travel Diaries, I also loved filming it too! I find capturing things on film sometimes speaks a bit louder than words on a blog post. It's also a great memoir to look back on!

I'm definitely going to start the chatty side of Youtube at some point this year, in addition to still documenting our travels, so if you'd like to see that then please subscribe to my channel here! It would mean a lot! :)

I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know what you think!

Have you been to Amsterdam? :)

2017 To-Do List

2017 To-do List

It's no lie that sticking to New Years Resolutions has never really been my 'thing'. I'm just a bit of a go-with-the-flow kinda gal and if I stick to something then great, if I don't then I don't. To be honest, that method in life has never got me anywhere and I really want 2017 to be the year of BIG changes. For once in my life, I actually feel ready to make stuff happen, so here's to the next chapter!

Amsterdam Travel Diaries

Last week, I turned the big, ripe old age of 23. Well, it's not really that big unless you're screaming/constantly quoting the lyrics of What's My Age Again? by Blink 182 (which yes, I was un-shamefully doing!).
