New Beginnings & Life Lately

Life Lately
It feels like only yesterday I was telling you all how much of a rollercoaster my life was. I think a catch up is waaaaay overdue, so grab a cuppa - it's probably going to be a long one!

Where do I start...? Let's take it back to December.

Stress! Stress everywhere! I was having a regular meltdowns trying to cope with work over the Christmas period and I'd even set myself the challenge of Blogmas. As much as I'm proud of myself for managing to do it, it did overtake my life and I just didn't enjoy December as much as I wanted to this time around. You live and you learn I guess?
Life Lately

New Year came around, oh and so did my anxiety. I swear January blues is a legit thing..? Out of nowhere, I lost all traces of my creativity and it felt like such a huge part of me was lost. I suddenly felt like I'd taken 10 steps back in the blogging world (let alone life) and I wasn't really sure what I was doing anymore.

I knew something had to change, so I decided to be sensible and set some realistic goals for 2017. I was hopeful this would give my mind something else to focus on, other than feeling like I was going to fall into full-on panic mode every 5 minutes.

Life LatelyOf course at the top of the list of things to change was a new job. It wasn't long before I signed up to a local recruitment agency with high hopes of them being able find something new and make my life a little less painful. Soz but isn't job hunting just the worst?!

After months of waiting to hear anything from them, I was losing hope. When they finally decided to make any form of contact, everything that did crop up seemed to be customer service based which I specifically told them I wasn't wanting to go into. I ended up assuming I was just under qualified for the jobs I had specified, so I ended up sacking off the agency.

Then came the gruelling task of job hunting. I'd spend endless nights on Indeed and became totally convinced that I was never going to find another job. I'd find a somewhat appealing looking job advert and I'd picture the interview failing before it had even begun. Brains, eh? Who needs 'em.

I'm lucky to have been surrounded by the best friends, family and boyfriend during this time - all of which are so patient, supportive, encouraging and just damn right amazing.

Life Lately

This carried on for a while and I'd essentially given up. Until one day at work, I had a missed call from one of my friends who I used to work with at Sainsbury's. Every time we'd meet up, I'd always ask if she had any job roles going at her work. Long story short, she asked if I was still looking because something had come up and her manager would love to interview me!

Within a week, I'd been for the interview and I got offered the job there and then! I was (and still am) over the moon and so grateful for having such thoughtful friends. YAY!

Life Lately
In other news, Jack and I visited Amsterdam in January for my birthday, which definitely set off the 2017 travel bug. I say this because not long after getting back, we booked a new adventure to Iceland in October! We are so excited and it can't come soon enough! Any tips/ posts will be greatly appreciated! It's no California just yet, but watch this space..

We've also decided to put moving out on hold, as we want to get all of our big holidays out of the way first. I guess we can be sensible sometimes!

Life Lately
Lol..
Since the last Life Lately postI've been to some more amazing events such as the Makeup Revolution 3rd Birthday Party, the Benefit Cosmetics Brow Event and a Smashbox Blogger Event (post is coming soon!).

Jack and I have also attended some great gigs with many more to come ft. the likes of Slam Dunk FestivalGreenday at BST Hyde ParkKnuckle PuckBlink 182 and more! So exciting! Let me know if you are going to any of these?

Overall, I'm currently pretty content with how life is going at the moment, and I feel like life is finally getting back on track! With some brand new challenges around the corner, I'm excited to see what lies ahead!

How's life been treating you lately? :)

  1. I'm so pleased that your life us finally getting back on track and you're still enjoying your new job. January Blues are definitely a thing, amongst other stuff, I felt a failure because I didn't do Blogmas when I'd planned to do it and I felt my December posts had slipped behind everyone who'd put in the hard work.
Yay for exciting travel, it doesn't have to be California, if it's a change of scenery, exploring new places, with people you love spending time with, then that's all that matters :) Beautiful photos!

    1. Thank you Sharon! That means a lot. :) Omg you are a 100% not a failure! I think unless you are the most ridiculously organised person it's so hard to keep up with. Definitely! Any adventure is a good one to make memories with! :) xxx

  4. Congrats on the new job! Believe me, I know the feelings you described all too well when it comes to job hunting. Feels like you're never getting anywhere and it can really bring you down. Thankfully I'm starting a new job in a few weeks, new career change and excited to see what happens. BTW January blues are definitely a thing!!
